About
My name is Jaclyn Shaw
Hi! I'm Jaclyn and I am a senior biochemistry major at the University of Florida.
I am currently in a lab researching peripheral T-cell lymphomas and novel therapeutic strategies. In the future, I am interested in conducting research in virology, cancer biology, and/or the microbiome. I have experience teaching and acting as a mentor to other undergraduate students. I acted as a learning assistant in Calculus 1, assisting students in questions in a flipped classroom setting. Additionally, I am currently working as a teaching assistant for Introduction to Bioinformatics. Here, I host office hours and assist students in any questions that arise. I am currently in the process of applying for my PhD and I am looking forward to my next chapter.

About My Research
I study peripheral T-Cell Lymphomas through the Opavksy Lab Group in the Cancer and Genetic research center at the University of Florida. I have been a member of the lab since August of 2023. In this lab I have been able to practice many laboratory skills ranging across a variety of scientific fields including molecular biology, oncology, microbiology, and more. I have practiced skills such as gel electrophoresis, flow cytometry, isolation of genetic material including genomic DNA, plasmid DNA, and RNA, and more. I believe that this lab is helping me to grow into the scientist that I know I can become.
